NOTHING IS EVER QUITE HOW IT MIGHT SEEM!

This photo went viral world wide following ex-Prince Andrew's arrest and day spent in a police station. The popular impression gained from his apparently distraught appearance, snapped on leaving for home by car, and happily reported by TV newscasters and commentators, was that he was exhausted and shocked as a result of intensive interrogations by the police. But no, "nothing is ever quite how it might seem" and here's why in this case. Firstly, the police would have been very "correct" for what was only a preliminary questioning exercise about what might be a "white collar" crime, regardless of what they might think about his other activities. Was he tired - Yes, but not in shock from being given the 3rd degree!

I believe that milli-seconds before the photo was snapped, Andrew was sitting quite normally, as can be seen in a BBC News clip, but then he saw the photographers gathered at the exit and he instantly shrank down in his seat, hoping to avoid being snapped, a natural reaction in the circumstances. Why the look on his face? Well, if you play a video of someone talking, or laughing, or shouting, or playing, and pause it several times, then you are sure to get some frozen expressions that are out of context and quite funny. The above now famous picture of Andrew simply framed him in the act of thinking "OMIGOD - photographers! Get down Andy!".  The photo on the right is AI's interpretation of how Andrew looked before he saw the gathered media.
